Rundown

NVIDIA needed a complete overhaul of the existing GPU Technology Conference app. This app was designed as a companion to attending the conference.  It had session and speaker information, exhibit hall maps, and some other extras such as local restaurants, etc.

Information Architecture

I personally met with the major stakeholders at NVIDIA’s office and with the help of my project manager we extracted the requirements. During this process I did a lot of brainstorming, and one of the first exercises was to map out the organization of the major screens. One of the techniques I used to achieve this organization was affinity diagramming.

Concept Whiteboarding

Another part of the design process was to whiteboard ideas for different concepts within the application, this was going on in parallel with the Information Architecture activities.

UI Sketching

Once I had an idea of what the features were and how they were organized I did some sketching of what the interface might look like. You can check out several of the main session view screens below.

Specification for Development

Another deliverable I generated with the help of my junior designer was detailed specifications for our development team. Below is the specification for the session view screens. I used this among other techniques to work with development to ensure the application was implemented to the specifications.
